About SDCRN

San Diego River park foundation

Mission

To support and empower community groups working to restore and enhance the San Diego River and its watershed, and to foster stewardship and understanding of this important regional asset.

History
The San Diego River Park Foundation was formed in 2001 to coordinate and promote efforts to establish the San Diego River Park.

Who is involved?
The San Diego River Park Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) public benefit corporation locally based organization. The staff of SDRPF represents an active and growing river park family of individuals, groups, businesses and others dedicated to the San Diego River. Its focus is watershed based within the regional and statewide context. Volunteers and interns play an important role in this effort. SDRPF host monthly events as well as special events with youth groups, corporations and others. In addition, SDRPF hosts the watershed calendar of volunteer events on its web site.

Projects
The San Diego River Park Foundation is following a well-defined strategy of public awareness, involvement and action with a variety of current projects. Key projects include coordination of the San Diego River Coalition, an association of more than 50 non-governmental organizations dedicated to the San Diego River which holds monthly public meetings; development of a San Diego River Park Master Plan; pursuing assemblage of the River Park; developing a better understanding of the natural functions of the San Diego River through a partnership project with the United States Bureau of Reclamation and City of San Diego; and working on raising public awareness and understanding about issues related to the River.

Goals
The San Diego River Park Foundation has several long-range goals. The primary mission is to work toward the establishment of the river-long San Diego River Park.

Why we joined the Conservation Resources Network
The SDRPF believes in the importance of sharing of resources, both knowledge and material, to better care for the quality of life in our region.

How are we unique?
We are the only organization focused entirely on the San Diego River Watershed.

Business Partnerships?
The San Diego River Park Foundation works with businesses through its Corporate Partners program to support important community projects and programs. Corporations can also contact SDRPF to arrange special service projects, such as planting parties and clean-ups, at one of the SDRPF project sites and elsewhere. Several businesses also support the efforts of the River Park through donations of services and products.

Education Partnerships?
SDRPF works with several schools in support of their efforts at specific project sites. In addition, we are available as a resource to help schools looking to establish a program.
